The Kitten Grayson Flowers installation at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show was without doubt one of my favourite designs this year. And I was in good company, as the very lovely Kitten (pictured below) received the Floristry Ambassador’s Choice Award!
Kitten describes her creation, ‘As Above So Below. Seed to Ceiling’ :
A celebration of our inner and outer landscapes, exploring how we interact with our environment. It is intended to emphasise the importance of humans connecting with nature, nurturing our connection with our landscapes through an immersive botanical world.
Deeply connected to nature’s rhythms and cycles, the installation embraces the transience of the seasons, exploring gateways into an ethereal world of enlightenment and the expression of beauty through flowers.
It is designed as a travelling piece of unique landscape artistry – it can be replicated in any location with natural materials from any landscape.A flower tapestry woven from our garden and landscape, designed to illustrate the journey of a flower from seed to ceiling.
Inspired by the ephemeral beauty of natural landscapes, a reflective bowl of water reflects the flowers back to tell the story of ‘As above so below’ which comes from the ancient quote that describes the idea that what happens in a higher realm or plane of existence also happens in a lower realm.
